This picture shows the extent of how intensively the window company contracted home inspector applied a water infiltration test.
That shown is the most water applied at any point in the test. This shows what he admitted to was not replication of natural rainfall in volume or force.
It is the homeowner's opinion the water test should replicate natural rainfall effects to determine if these windows meet local conditions. A point the window company contracted inspector did raise is that these windows may be inferior to our regional requirements.
Also note that the windows are in no way isolated from the rest of the house in any of these pictures, contrary to what the window company claims in their letter assessing the inspection.
It was during window inspection 2 that the construction differences of the suspected leaking window component design over that of the solid frame Eagle brand was discussed. The Eagle brand design is composed of a contiguous frame that distinguished and started to become evident as part of the suspect window's failure.
What the window company contracted window inspector did state about these two brands of windows in the same house with the one set of windows leaking but the Eagle ones not:
"...I am not doing any work the company is not paying for..."
A further note curious about the timing of this statement is that it was after the window company discontinued their defense the leaks were caused by improper window installation.
Pictured right is one of the interior bottom sill trim pieces of one window. The inside of the trim that is normally up against the interior wall is removed to expose the black mold growing due to repeated water infiltration through the windows.
The same black mold appears to be growing on the inside of the home's interior wall sheet rock.
This third window test results were not provided to the homeowner by the inspection company or by the window manufacturer. What the window company did do was send the homeowner a letter. Have a read of what the window company did send as results of this home inspection.
