Window Leaks and Damage
Leaking windows caused damage the homeowner had to pay to repair. Three types of window water leak tracks can be identified. The first is the track that leaks through the window, under the house wrap and against the house exterior sheeting. The result is rotten wood and black mold.
The second leak is that which penetrates between the panel window and the house window frame appearing under the decorative molding of the panel window top sill.
The third leak is one that tracks down the interior house wall. The same leak replicated in house and window inspection 2 and 3.
This rain water leak is evident as wood rot to the house exterior sheeting and black mold.
The key fact about this house sheeting rot is that it was only existent and isolated to below the panel windows, not the casement windows, not anywhere else including not the Eagle windows, not at siding seams, corners, trim, deck, etc.
These same windows that had exterior sheeting rot water damage also leaked into the home interior.
